The book should have been called "At Your Best as a Tradesman", as that would have been more accurate. It mostly seems to be concerned with how you market yourself, and maintaining a positive attitude and work ethic. That's great, but not what I thought I was paying for. The author (not a welder, by the way) states that there's no such thing as a "Master Certified Welder" and goes on with no mention of 6G/6GR, and only fleeting mention of CWI. There's plenty of mentions of "You, Inc" and your personal brand, which is great if that's what you're looking for, but if you want meat and potatoes about the welder career, I recommend passing on this book. He refers to many software tools on his website, atyourbest.com. I haven't tried them so cannot comment as to their value.I like seeing guys like Mike Rowe pushing the skilled trades, and I believe Mr. Carosso's heart is in the right place. I haven't read the AYB books for plumbing and electrician, but I'd be willing to bet they're pretty similar to the welding book. I recommend Juan Carosso either combine the good info on networking, personal branding, and positive attitude into one book to help tradesman looking for a mental path, OR, if he sticks with books broken down into specific trades that he actually include some solid info on those trades, such as actual certification types and costs, info on inspecting & tests, etc.In the meantime if you're looking for some meat to help you get rolling as a new welder, I recommend finding an ebook called "100K Welder" by Scott Linden. I don't think Amazon sells it anymore so you might need to look around. It's got some nuggets of gold to help you kickstart your welding career.

I found the book was good for me as I have experience with C++ programming. It may be hard for a beginner as it seems to be really geared for someone with C or C++ experience. I found the book still relevant, although the UI programming uses AWT examples. I was able to compile and use Java programs using the Java SDK in no time and even got applets running in a browser.For someone that has no programming experience in an object oriented language, I can see how this book would be difficult. It does indicate on the back cover that it isn't for new programmers. Topics about inheritance and the pointer-like variables in Java would drive you nuts. The author tries, like everybody else to explain classes in pretty much the same way as everybody else (motorcycle, car, etc.). I wish there were more programming projects or hold-your-hand creating programs content.I bought the book because it was cheap and I am really happy with it. I found it much better than the "Teach Yourself C++ in 21 days" book I bought a while ago (I had to use a different book because of the namespace weirdness in that one).

Great book---better than my course texts. Some chapters I think are irrelevant, like chapter 13 and a few others, but overall, it's been helping me learn.

I have two beginning Java books, Joyce Farrel's "Java Programming: 2nd Edition" and "Teach Yourself Java in 21 Days" of the two, this book is the easier to understand. However, it doesn't push the reader to experiment with code and push themselves like the first title I mentioned does.I have experience in other OOP languages and that may be what made this book easy for me to understand. If I try to look at this book as a beginner that has never had any programming experience I think this book would be tricky to understand. I would suggest that anybody that wants to learn any kind of programming get a good book on programming logic and learn how to write pseudo-code and flowchart before they totally imerse themselves in OOP (or procedural programming).This book does cover almost every aspect of Java. The one that I found it lacking in, and the one I need for work, are JDBC basics. Still, I think that before tackling JDBC a person should understand the basics and this book would do a good job of that.I have had two people recommend "Thinking in Java" by Bruce Eckel as the best book for learning Java. I have not read it but it is free for download in PDF format. I think a book like that combined with this one would be the best for anyone that wants to be a Java programmer.

This book never comes close to presenting istself as a stand alone subject for learning java. Especially not in 21 days or 100 days, I would challange if it could be done in a year. This book is poorly written with enormous amount of errors , not just in the text but in the program listing themselves. I doubt if this book was proof read or even if any of the programs where written and carried out to the extreme to see if they really worked. While this book covers a lot of topics there are poor to no examples on any of the material that is covered.This book alone with the second edition is being used for a subject class for a college level course. The second edition is not as bad as the first , tho , what are the odds of the same program appearing in both books and in different formats and yet neither one will run when you get done. Well you just have to present them to the instructor and ask him to give it a go . oh! it wont run . maybe we ought to throw out the books. Heres an idea lets get hold of the auther , you mean they wont answer there email. WOW , and to think we buy this junk and nobody ever sits down and looks it over. Simply amazing. so if you are interested in java , i know two books at least to stay away from.i have a library of several books that i use for reference, and i could not at this time recommend one. If there is someone out there who has some great degree of results let me know . It could also help others.If i had to choose one it would be the " complete reference of java by Naughton / Schildt ". while not the best it does answer a lot of questions.learing java you need to really be exposed to layouts ,events networking and windows. this book falls short on all accounts.yes i am still working on java , i like the langauge and will learn it one way or another .so happy programming to one and all.do drop me a line

I tried learning Java from this book and failed. Perhaps I shouldn't blame the book but rather my lack of previous experience with object-oriented programming. In any case, this book did not cover object-oriented design sufficiently or clearly enough for it to click. If you already have this background, perhaps this book would be of more use, but if you are trying to learn Java and have never taken C++, Pascal, or any other object-oriented language, I would look for another book.

If you give this book anything less than 5 stars then you need to read and/or program more. This book is excellent for new to advanced Java programmers. I have been reviewing all kinds of books for the past three years, mostly programming books, and this book clearly stands out! Don't listen to any of the other reviews or even this review: the proof is in the reading. That's how confident I am about this book. When they say "in 21 days", BOY OH BOY DO THEY EVER MEAN IT!!!

Teach yourself Java in 21 days, HA HA HA!!!! If you can understand all about OOP in 21 days then you don't need this book, you need something from SunSoft Books or O'Reilly. If you don't know a lot about this stuff, or you have been out of programming for a while then you won't learn this in 21 days. Gustavo Munoz.

This book is probably the best buy I have ever made. It is so completely eye opening that I cannot even express in words how I feel about it. I will try though.After 20 years of turning my back on Messiah and Christianity in general due to lack of any meaningful upbringing, and lack of any meaningful understanding, I have finally found my Beloved Savior for the first time. I began my quest to know God the Father and Jesus the Son by reading my Bible for the first time all the way through. While I gained some knowledge I know most of it slipped by me and that is when I began searching for a deeper truth.And I found this treasure of truth by Zola Levitt. What a gift we are given and it has been hidden in plain sight right in front of our eyes the entire time.Thank you Zola Levitt for helping ones like me gain a better appreciation of the amazing gift of our Messiah.If you are a Christian, a Follower of Jesus Christ, a believer in Messiah... and you do not know the meanings of the Feasts of Israel, aside from basic surface knowledge of them, you must read this book. I guarantee it will change your whole understanding and take you deeper spiritually.

This 31 page (in my original paper booklet) teaching focuses on the 7 Levitical Feasts (Leviticus 23) which the Jews have celebrated thru the millennia, in their calendar year. Zola traces how this calendar of feasts was or will be fulfilled by Jesus and stands as a prophetic declaration of the events past, and yet to come for Israel and the Church. Christians as Zola correctly points out are not responsible to keep these feasts, but as he says, a knowledge of them greatly enhances our faith. And I may add, gives us greater understanding of the prophetic timetable of events.I encountered Zola about 30 years ago. I heard him speak just once in a small church in a small town. I've never looked at things the same since.Over the years I've enjoyed other authors on this subject, but I never saw it presented so briefly, the "Readers Digest" version. If you want to go further some very good longer books on the Feasts are available such as Ancient Messianic Festivals or The Feasts of the Lord: God's Prophetic Calendar From Calvary to the Kingdom and there are many more good ones just in paper book form too. This booklet started me off reading on the subject.Zola's value in this booklet isn't just the concise clear teaching, it is also the balance he displays returning the Jewish mindset and culture to the church that was originally there in the first century. Seeing thru Jewish eyes brings greater understanding of our faith, it's foundations. We are grafted into the olive tree after all. Some of us, like Zola are Jewish believers to begin with and others are Gentiles. As the passage in this booklet points out, there are 2 components to the church corresponding to the 2 wave offerings of Pentecost. These "first fruits" come in two "flavours". Jew and Gentile, forming the church. The church doesn't ever REPLACE Israel in God's dealings thru history, nor does the church BECOME Israel. Zola deals with these 2 errors over and over setting the believer securely on the foundation built by the apostles, avoiding the errors of replacement theology or hyper Messianic churches.This booklet in it's simplicity and beauty along with the one on Passover The Miracle of Passover are ideal for understanding a Jewish friend and explaining the Jewish roots of Christianity and how Jesus fulfilled the Messianic prophecies of what we call the Old Testament. This one has an overview of each feast and how Jesus fulfills the feast but the one on Passover goes into that feast in depth.I cannot over emphasize the value of Zola and his gift for making things simple. As another favourite Christian author Dr. J. Vernon McGee once said--"putting the cookies on the bottom shelf" meaning that the truths of the gospel should remain accessible to all believers regardless of their age or mental abilities. The rule I abide by in teaching (Home School, Bible Studies and Sunday School classes) is that anything taught will be better absorbed, retained and used thru life if it is presented in the simplest possible form.I was so grieved to hear of Zola's passing a few years back. I got my Kindle the summer of 2011 and have consistently checked every few months to see if Zola's work made it to Kindle. I was so happy yesterday to find this here along with many others in his booklet series. It seems that only one remains to be "kindle-ized". That is "The Signs of the End" and I look forward to seeing it soon.I am happy to say that whoever was doing the job of creating the Kindle version of these booklets did a superb job. I loved the way Zola showed the connection between the feasts in the Old Testament and the Rapture. Even though I have been a Christian since age 9 and am now 73, I never learned much about the feasts. I am really sorry that I waited so long. Most pastors do not preach a lot about the OT and it is a shame. The OT is revealed in the NT and the NT is hidden in the old. It is paramount that we learn about both in order to have a good understanding of God's word. I am working on learning as much as I can about God's people Israel and praying each day for peace in Jerusalem as we are instructed in Psalm 122. Things are happening very fast and end times are approaching quickly. We need to be as prepared as possible and that includes knowing how the feasts and the blood moons fit into end times things. D. I read this many, many years ago. During a Bible study at church, we began discussing the Jewish feasts and I remembered this book. I couldn't find the old copy I had but was thrilled to find it on Amazon and in Kindle format! Also, as an Obstetric RN for 40 years, the comparison study regarding the feasts and the development of a human totally is awesome. I know Zola has been rejoicing in Heaven for several years now, but his teachings go on!!

Zola is a great teacher of the truths of God whose teaching extends to us & future generations, even though he has gone on to be with the Lord. He takes us through the first feasts of Israel with good application to the Christian life. However, there are some applications that seem a bit speculative. This is especially true in the section on pregnancy & child birth...some of this chapter seems a bit of a stretch. Nevertheless, a good book.

Very interesting and I especially liked his conclusions after he had presented all of the feasts. It is exciting to see how God has given us a preview of His plans for His people using these feasts! His information on human pregnancy and how it can be tied into these feasts was something that I had never heard before and was a blessing to me. I would recommend this book to anyone.

I could not hold back the tears of great joy when reading of the seven feast days, which I had studied many times and reaped such blessing and what they held for me. I've been a serious student of scripture for 40 years and on this night an answer came to a prayer uttered many times seeking the wisdom of GOD. Through this little book and that still small voice of a HOLY GOD who spoke to me, a sinner, unworthy of the least of His blessings, the answer. I always marvel at the unspeakable wisdom of my LORD and His Holy Word !!!

Jane Green tends to write write fluffy beach reads, the sort of books that get turned into equally fluffy TV movies.And in "The Beach House," she links together a series of storylines that could have easily made up their own books, with a warm'n'fuzzy sentimental core in an ancient Nantucket house. Unfortunately it begins to come unravelled about halfway through, and some of those storylines simply rush to the finish line without bothering to spin up a satisfactory conclusion.Eccentric widow Nan Powell is faced with selling her beloved old house Windermere, with its memories of her beloved albeit gambling-addicted hubby. The alternative: take in boarders for money, and fend off the developers who want to tear down Windermere for McMansions.At about this time, her son Michael returns home after an ill-fated affair with his boss's clingy wife, who now wants a commitment from him. And among the boarders are Daff, a newly-divorced wife and mother who is seeking "herself," and Daniel, a nervy young man who has just realized that he is gay, and is struggling to deal with this. His young wife Bee, who is understandably upset by her husband's distance, is still ignorant of this.As time winds on -- and the developers circle around Nan's run-down mansion -- the various people begin to relax and open up to each other, like members of a family. But then a series of crises hit -- Bee's father is badly injured, Daff's daughter is arrested, and Michael's desperate former lover shows up with some shocking news for him (yes, you can probably guess what). And even Nan is faced with an old face from her past, who she thought was gone forever...."The Beach House" has more than enough plot -- any of its subplots would make a decent novel, and Green winds together a series of them with some tenuous links. Jewelry stores, yuppie marriage counseling, and an empty house post-divorce are all explored in detail, as the characters' lives start spinning out of control. And she tackles some of the nastier aspects of adultery and moving on, such as disaster dates and a tantrum-throwing teenager.But when all the characters get to Nantucket, Green seems to lose some of her inspiration. She rushes through the last quarter of the book after a leisurely build-up. And she seems vaguely embarrassed by the prospect of a big emotional scene -- big shattering events are dealt with via a phone call, a horrifying betrayal is handled by a few sniping comments and general shunning. One character even conveniently expires to avoid dealing with the general baggage.This is particularly troublesome in Daniel's story -- his coming-out and tentative explorations into the gay subculture is both wrenching and intriguing, as you wonder what this loving father will do to avoid hurting his wife and kids. But once he's out'n'proud, then Green shies away from actually dealing with it, or with his attraction to the conveniently hunky Matt. The drippy "let's not have sex because I want a commitment" scene is simply absurd.As for the characters, they're a mixed bag. Nan is the biggest problem -- she's not really eccentric, and she's not really nurturing. Yet Green has her randomly flip-flop between being an eccentric old free spirit, and being an earth mother-type. Not that it's very plausible that her tomato garden could instantly turn a spoiled, shrieking, shoplifting regressed teenager into a little angel overnight.On the other hand, Daniel and Bee are explored with painful, beautiful detail, as he struggles to deal with his homosexuality and she struggles with the revelations about what their marriage was, and where this leaves her as a desirable woman. Too bad Michael is an insensitive and self-absorbed jerk who strings along a married woman until she ditches her hubby, and Daff loses her tragic wronged-woman dimensions as soon as she shrugs off Michael's adulterous liaison. Who cares if that's the sort of thing that broke up her marriage? He's hot and has tight abs!"The Beach House" has potential and plot to burn, but the rushed final lap and a couple puttered-out storylines leave you frustrated. Here's hoping the next try is longer and more passionate.

Let me start by saying that I used to be a huge Patterson fan. However, the more prolific he became, the less I enjoyed the novels. Most are written alongside another writer and I’ve felt many times that the other writer is doing the”heavy lifting”, while Patterson just puts his name on the cover (and once he does that, the books become instant hits). I’ve bought books from the authors who write with Patterson (Andrew Gross, for one, is a wonderful writer). I would recommend HIS books, and I enjoy them more than the collective efforts with Patterson. Also, I can’t afford to read all Patterson, all the time. That being said, I got this book for $2.99 from Amazon. It was a great, if improbable, storyline. Kept me reading nonstop until I finished. Moved me to tears once or twice. A great adventure! Definitely worth the money and the time to read it; it’s an excellent summer book!

Another blockbuster for James Patterson!The twists and turns will leave you dizzy.Jack is determined to get to the bottom of his brother's death, but the answers he finds are unsettling, to say the least!With all the odds against him, Jack is determined to bring his brother's killer to justice, but when even the police stonewall him, how can he prove his brother didn't drown, but was in fact, murdered?The ending will have you at the edge of your seat.

I really enjoyed another great book by James Patterson. The story kept me guessing, turning the pages and staying up toooo late saying just one more chapter. The characters were strong, wonderful, deceitful and beautiful. Some you loved others u hated. A great mystery, full of sadness, murder, intrigue and love rolled into one book. You owe it to yourself to read this book. I don't re-read a book very often but I read this too fast and feel I need to read it again. Happy reading.

As I indicated earlier after reading 1/3 of this book that it was a tad slow moving and not quite a "page turner". I enjoyed the cast of characters which were creatively developed by the author (Does J.P. actually partake in the co-writing?). What saves this book is a very good ending and that is why I gave 4 stars instead of three. Take this book and sit in the sand in front of a Beach House...Hippie Bob

He just lets these other writers add his name so their books will sell better. HUGE MISTAKE Mr. Patterson. It's going to make fans like me move on and stop buying any of your books. I've painstakingly read up to chapter 31 of this book and don't even want to waste my time finishing it. I always finish a book I start but this one is so horribly written I don't think I can stand to waste my time. VERY DISAPPOINTED. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME

I was asked by the author to give an honest review of this book, and I can honestly say that I loved it. First of all, it was very well written, with clear explanations and descriptive language. It never felt crude to me, because the author emphasized the emotional and spiritual intimacy of sex and well as the pleasure. The book includes sections on the philosophy of the Kama Sutra, as well as highlighting positions that increase intimacy, either by allowing for eye contact or physical closeness. As for the positions themselves, each was explained very well, not only how to execute it, but with an explanation of how to increase pleasure.

This is one of the best Kama Sutra Books there is! I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to heat things up in the bedroom ! This book is very detailed and explanatory which makes it so easy to comprehend and follow. After reading this book I'm sure that you will be able to make your partner very happy using the knowledge you gained from this book. This book will definitely make your intimate life better.

For me as a woman, I want to be knowledgeable enough about the art of sex. This is the perfect book to read because there is a lot of valuable information about sex such as sexual positions, keys of kissing, stages of sex, size matters, how health and lifestyle that affects sex, and why a woman should learn about it. You'll know relevant information in practicing Kamasutra and with this ancient teachings about sex, you can greatly improve your sex life and become a better lover.

So far, this is the best book about Kama Sutra I've ever read. The ancient teachings and love making techniques here are what I've been looking for. Veronica White did an amazing job discussing here why it is very important for women to be knowledgeable about sex. This book helped me learn how to mix up sexual positions, learn the keys of kissing, and understanding the stages of sex. A great book if you want to improve your love life and your sex life.

This is an eye opener. I didn't know Kama Sutra actually endorses sex with multiple partners. Reading this totally blew my mind away. Sex is not just about putting it in and race to orgasm. It is also about respecting the women's body. I especially love the chapter on tantric sex where the act of intimacy can go on for hours. Why a 4 star? I was hoping for visual illustration for the sex positions described. Otherwise, it is an awesome read.

I'm going to find the time to come back and give this a proper review, but in the meantime, 5 stars.This book is everything I thought and hoped it would be from the previews at the Ableton site... and more, much more. Never before have those vague "unanswerables" about creativity been so well answered, at least as it pertains to electronic music production. This book is definitely focused on electronic production (not EDM genres in specific) - the composition side, the neglected one. Anyone who struggles with writing music in general, electronic or not, will benefit - but parts are definitely specific to music made by computers.I'm already demonstrably better as a composer and have an easier time getting started after reading through one time, and I expect I will be re-reading and referencing back to this book over and over for a long time to come.If you've got any doubts, read the preview chapters on the official makingmusic.ableton site - though many of the best are reserved for the book itself.Proper review forthcoming.Note: This is NOT specific to Ableton users in any way - no matter your DAW, this will not exclude you. I use Maschine and found zero conflicts in that regard. Ableton is used for screenshots of the sequencer patterns, nothing more.

This is the book I was always looking for but couldnt find. Its written like Q&A between "student" and "teacher". The student asks common and not so common questions and the teacher uses a page or two to explains how its normal to deal with this issue and his own very effective solution! It starts out with some advice that I already solved in almost identical ways to what the author suggested. But I would be thankfull if i had this book earlier. As you start reading this book you get to advice that you would expect from the likes of Eno, that could work for both new and advanced musicians.Oh yeah it also doesnt mention ableton live by name ever. Thats very cool since i use logic.

Sure, we all do.This book is the coach needed by those of us who've been making music for decades and are looking to jump out of those familiar and boring habits, and those who are just getting started with a DAW and wanting to corrall and harness the limitless possibilities of modern music making.I've only been through it once, but it's already full of highlights, and I foresee my Kindle residing in my studio for some time to come.For what it is, it's amazingly inexpensive. I have cables that cost more.

As a new student to music in general and synthesizer music I really enjoyed this book and recommended: It does a lot to give you ways to get "unstuck and start" creativity. I got it as a Kindle Edition on Amazon and listen to it over my Alexa device that read it at night. I will go through it as the book next. It was recommended to me byBoBeats on YouTube. I picked up this book having high expectations since I have digested a large amount of music production books, magazines and video tutorials. This book does a great job at addressing common roadblocks that I have encountered.Even though the author works for ableton, this book still does a fantastic job approaching the subject of digital music production while being software agnostic.With so many options for sound design and music composition in the digital realm, this book has been a breath of fresh air.I expect to read this book a few times over for inspiration and strategies when approaching music production. I feel that the subject matter will last the rest of time and will still be relevant for years to come.

I've been making music for a long time & making music with computers since 1998. I wish I had access to this book in 1998. I'm going to be going back to this well again & again. Highly recommended. Also, even though the author works for Ableton, it's really in no way is a how-to for Abelton, it's much more DAW agnostic & really about the unique challenges making music with computers bring.

It does address myriad "speedbumps" that all musicians encounter on our creative journeys and while it's light in detail of any one of the 74 solutions in the book, that is what makes it universally appealing. Several solutions were new to me and I then easily found all the specifics online. Well worth the read.

Essential reading for any musician, not just electronic ones. This book is an easy read. I don't work in a DAW, which gets a fair bit of attention here, but I still found it to be full of suggestions that pushed my creative boundaries and let me look differently at the process of making music.
