I am a dreamer and I purchased the book to give me some interpretive insight, however, the book was not as expected with little information really on decoding and interpreting the dreams...author spent a lot of time in the book referencing his other book The Divinity Code (maybe I should have bought that book instead)....thanks anyway

About the Author

Prior to 1987, Dr. Gutstein was a nationally renowned developer of innovative clinical programs for children with high-risk conditions. In 1983, he received the largest grant ever awarded by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health, to develop a family-based intervention program for seriously suicidal adolescents. Dr. Gutstein earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Case Western Reserve University. Between 1979 and 1987 he served as an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of Texas Medical School. During this period, Dr. Gutstein also served as the director of Pediatric Psychology for Texas Children's Hospital. He is currently Director of The Connections Center.

I would recommend this book to anyone who is serious about finding an effective therapy to help someone they love or care for who is on the Autism Spectrum. This book is a careful, thorough and technical description of a compassionate, well researched, and professionally run therapy which involves and empowers parents and carers in the process of helping those they care for to ultimately be able to build their owngenuine relationships. This is something which those on the Autism Spectrum find the most difficult of all!This therapy is not merely about learning good manners or socially appropriate behaviour - but about the lifetime skill of building emotionallyappropriate, fulfilling and genuine personal relationships.

We are just starting RDI with a consultant and this book is clear and easy to understand.

Gutstein presents his RDI theory in this book. So much of what his theory involves makes incredible sense for anyone working with a person (people) with an asd spectrum disorder. This is the most insightful book on autism that I have ever read.

This book moved me. I have gained so much insight on this subject by reading it. I am inspired to integrate what I've learned into my classroom. It is inspiring and touched me deeply.

Hats off to Dr. Gutstein for his focus on socialization in individuals with autism and Asperger's Syndrome. His "carrot minus the stick" approach in helping people on the autism spectrum perceive benefits in social interaction is an invaluable insight. I like the way he concentrates on building strengths and providing explanations for more severe autism-spectrum behaviors.He uses what appears to me a very reasonable approach. For many people with autism, sequencing or breaking tasks and interactions down into process-friendly steps has proven helpful. He also explains how people by nature crave socialization and that people on the autism spectrum do not have the intuitive social knowledge, such as how long and when to maintain eye contact. To his credit, he does not lapse into a tired "Rain Man" stereotype; instead, he focuses on how to encourage people with autism to develop nonverbal as well as other interpersonal social skills. In just about every case, people with autism learn these behaviors cognitively and often by repeated efforts.This book certainly deserves a place of honor among professionals and families. It is for everybody.

I'm actually revising this review having reread the book and learned more about RDI, as I feel I have a better idea of what the approach is really all about now. My new in-a-nutshell assessment: there are some things I really love about RDI, and some things that I don't care for. To be fair, I would say the same about most treatment approaches.To start with the positive: I think the thing that makes RDI special are what they now call the "Child Goals". There was a time when we thought teaching children with autism to be 'social' meant drilling them on how to say "Hi, my name is ____ what's your name how are you do you want to play", and other such catch phrases that would be fairly useless on a real life, chaotic playground full of it's own hidden codes and rules. The same for abstract thought, imagination, perspective taking. Some things don't translate well to the old "10 trials" format. So a big bravo to RDI for researching this topic and developing goals based around how these skills emerge in typical development.Now for what I see as the core problems in RDI. First, it is all set up around the philosophy that if children feel competent, they will participate (as opposed to ABA, which says if children feel MOTIVATED they will participate.) So if you are trying to do a social activity with an autistic child, and they keep running away trying to go play with light switches or Thomas Tank Engine, RDI says it's because they don't feel competent. Make the situation easier, help them more, slow down, and they will happily engage with you.Nothing wrong with this philosophy, but I'm here to say, I haven't found it to be true. There is actually emerging research to suggest that children with autism may be wired to be 'systemizers' and to pay attention to more mechanical/mathematical type information while lacking typical levels of motivation to attend to social information. If this is the case for a child, you can simplify all you want and the issue isn't that they don't understand, it's that they don't care and you're not creating a reason for them to care. You can be the best teacher in the world but it won't do much for a student who is tuning you out. Second, RDI says that most of the methods used in ABA teaching are Bad with a capital B, and encourage families to really avoid these methods. Again, the problem? A lot of those methods are extremely effective with autistic children, and taking them off the table really limits your teaching tools. This includes methods such as giving the child a direct instruction or asking them a direct question, prompting them to answer or respond, or teaching new material in a very repetitive, predictable way.I think the interesting argument that you get down to here is: when teaching an autistic child, how much should you accommodate a child's autism vs. how much you should try to change it? In my mind, using ABA type methods lean more toward accommodation - teaching in a way that is easier for an autistic child and more in line with their style of learning. RDI methods stress change - you teach more in the way you would expect a neurotypical child to learn and hope they will in turn adapt to this.What I have seen to happen, in my admittedly very limited observation, is that children who are closer to that neurotypical way of thinking do well with RDI, whereas children who are more classically autistic don't seem to get much out of RDI unless it's adapted for them. For the children who have some of those base skills already, RDI can be the push they need into becoming a dynamic thinker. For a child who doesn't attend well to social information, needs to have their interest/motivations incorporated to a large degree, and doesn't learn well outside of highly structured teaching situations, I almost wonder if it's akin to teaching a deaf child with nothing but verbal direction.So my advice? I like the ideas, I do. I would recommend this therapy for high-functioning children with fairly good language and some pre-existing social motivation. For more involved children, I would recommend it as an add-on to other types of therapy such as Floortime or Verbal Behavior, that are more focused on adapting to the child's way of thinking instead of waiting for them to adapt to yours.

The book is beautifully printed and bound, with nice glossy paper, good image quality and even a textured cover. Fans of Kaneoya Sachiko's artwork will be pleased. It's not a complete collection of her work, so I would be interested in seeing Iron Circus publish another artbook. Not every image is full sized but are lovely enough I'd like to see them reproduced full size in another book. Her foreword is interesting and I would have liked to see more commentary from her about any story behind the art or what her thought process was. I suppose she didn't think people would find that interesting but her imagery is so surreal and evocative you end up questioning what you are looking at. The one thing I had an issue with is the coloring book section; I'm tempted to try coloring it but I'd be embarrassed to ruin a perfectly good book with my mediocre coloring skills, I think it could have been its own separate product.

The book is great and would receive 5 stars. But the book was damaged, as it was not packaged properly with anything in the box protecting it. The book itself is lovely and worth the price. But I would buy it from another site. I tried to get a replacement, and it was also damaged. Even more than the first. DO NOT BUY FROM AMAZON. Buy this lovely art book from a different store.

Big fan of this artist and their work, the art is incredible and the book itself is so high quality! I love the ends of the pages being bright highlighter pink. This is a well put together, collection and I'm so happy with it!

Yes, yes it is.

However! What separates this book from so many of its ilk is that it is light on rhetoric and inspirational stories, and instead devotes much more of its space to providing quite dense practical information.The reason that I say “roadmap” is a good descriptor is that there’s a lot in this book that (if you’re serious!) will result in you looking up its ideas elsewhere, double-checking data, reading alternate sources, etc. Where this book’s greatest value lies — to me — is in its function as a well-organized set of pointers; it demystifies what is a baffling subject area to many, gives the reader a set of core tools, and prods them off on their way.In criticisms, I have two small observations:1) As others have mentioned, the book could stand to pass through the hands of an editor. For one example, Kho lists reasons why it is good to have extra streams of income (itself a superfluous chapter; I think every reader knows that already), but these reasons are repetitive and also include such “reasons” as “Build a New Income Stream” and “Diversified Income Sources” — ie, listing the premise itself several times as a reason for the premise.2) On a technical note, the author advocates DCA investing that may be frustratingly impractical to many of more modest wealth, due to per-trade fees, minimum buys, and so forth. But there's plenty of other content to make up for this.All in all, I’d say the book has its faults, but is a great introduction and overview to a topic that is so essential, yet renowned for being intimidating and inaccessible.

The book makes some very good points. All too often, young people do not take their finances seriously early on. This can have several very negative consequences. The individual does not learn proper spending, saving, or investing habits early on which become more challenging to learn later as the negative habits tend to be too ingrained to change. What Jeremy does next is go on to explain how young people can start to creak the bad habits and what sorts of good habits they should replace them with. The goal of the book is to teach young people how to make wise decisions with their money so that they can have a less stressful life financially later on.I appreciate the goal of the book and I feel that Jeremy does a good job of pointing out good habits and bad habits. With that being said, I have serious issues with their piece of writing. The book is in desperate need of an editing job, so much so that it is a distraction to the reader. Things and people are constantly changing from singular to plural and at times it would appear that words are just completely missing from sentences. This causes the reader to be confused over what is actually being discussed and what the actual meaning is. A slower approach to the writing and some time with an editor could easily handle many of the issues that I saw. Again, the message is good but the presentation is where the flaws were.

This book came in handy at the moment when I was starting to seriously think about what I place value on, and how should I manage my finances in life, because I wanted to change something. The “Millennial Roadmap…” will make you think about your personal money like it is company money. I am not surprised to see that it treats millennials as entrepreneurs, as, though not all of us are, I know many of my friends who agree that working for a steady 9-5 job just won't cut it!Jeremy Kho gives a basic guide to key aspects of money management, including money beliefs, handling multiple funds at the same time, and he provides multiple practical tools that will help you calculate as a seasoned investor or at least, deepen your investment knowledge so that you don't feel so alienated from the moneymaker’s world.Millennials should use the advantage of growing in the Internet era and the access to the information pool available. If you are aware of this fact but don't know where to start this book will help you get to the bottom of it. You'll find valuable links about the stock market and info on how to read and interpret them, as well as links to millionaires success stories.The point is to start saving and investing as early as possible to make it work for you in the best possible way. This is not an empty talk book. It's a ‘do’ book. It just reconfirmed my intention to start putting a share of my money into a stock investment fund. Four stars because I found the overall structure overwhelming - I had to return to read certain passages twice. Some editing work will do wonders.

I bought this for a gift for my 4 yr old nephew who loves monster trucks. He had just been to see a live monster truck show and that was all he could talk about then.I did not read the book myself. It is paperback and may not last long in the hands of a small child. I am not sure if the book has held up, since it was several months ago that I gave it to him. I do know that if it has not lasted, it was well loved and looked at making it well worth the money!

Theism is the richest worldview not because it adds the greatest quantity of explanations (indeed, gods like Zeus or Thor or Allah fail to add any explanation) - but because it offers one explanation: the person of Jesus Christ; by Him, the personable attachment of theism is enabled.This book therefore brings us first into the logical possibility of theism by grounding arguments, simply put, in God. The reader will essentially learn why the theistic worldview is most coherent in general. Afterwards, the final chapters will speak on the person of Jesus Christ to make a "fully" coherent view. Without a personal deity, theism simply becomes empty, like a well that cannot supply water: Deism.However, holding to Deism after reading this book will almost certainly make little sense. The arguments alone from the cosmological argument provide us with erudite reason to believe the cause before us was, as well, personal. While this makes perfect logical sense, everyday people tend not to converse this way so a reader may afterwards find themselves unloading the arguments and breaking them down in more relatable ways. In a more formal academic debate, however, the way these arguments are presented may work perfectly.
