I've seen some odd reviews and I'm not sure if they have the same product. While I cannot speak for anyone else, I can say that this is an excellent resource. It's pocket-sized and very thin (maybe 1/3 inch wide). It's perfect for quick and convenient, hand-held reference. As such, it's not designed for in-depth study. There is no table of contents, but those who are familiar with the Catechism likely do not need it. It is a Reformed exposition of Christian doctrine. It covers guilt, grace, and gratitude and is written in a warm, devotional style. It is arguably the most beloved of catechisms in Protestant history, rivaled only by the smaller Westminster Shorter Catechism.This edition has a brief introduction, and is divided into the standard fifty-two Lord's Days. There are Scripture proof text references for doctrinal assertions. And, it has a smooth, Tru-tone style cover. So, it's a stylish, convenient, properly organized, superior expression of Reformed doctrine laced with Scripture texts. What's not to love?
This is a nice edition of this fine catechism. I'm using it now, going through it for daily family devotions. It is broken down into 52 "Lord's Days," allowing for short studies for personal for family devotions. The absence of an index does not bother me; the items are all compact and easy to find.Peter L. This little catechism has been a blessing for my wife and I. The only down side to this printing is the lack of a table of contents. If the publisher added that to the next printing it would improve the printing ten fold because it would make referencing this wonderful work ten times easier.If you aren't familiar with the Heidelberg Catechism you should check out Kevin Deyoung's book on it. "The Good New We Almost Forgot". It's an excellent introduction. The Catechism follow the flow of "guilt, grace, gratitude" and is a faithful expression of much of the reformed tradition. Overall, it's a great read and really helpful tool for teaching the doctrines of christianity.
What a beautiful, pocket size book. The question on page 12 is at the very top, which can be missed if you aren't looking carefully. It is a good catechism and we are going through it with DeYoungs book alongside.
Nice, compact easy to carry version of the Catechism. I wish they had used a sturdier paper for the pages
